Emerald launched in 2004 as the enhanced third version of Generation III. It merged the Team Magma and Aqua stories from Ruby and Sapphire. The Battle Frontier added replayability with seven unique facilities. Rayquaza featured prominently on the cover and in the story. For many fans, Emerald was the definitive Hoenn experience. It remains a benchmark for what an enhanced version can offer.
