The PSP launched in Japan in 2004 and in North America in 2005. Launch window titles like Lumines, Wipeout Pure, and Ridge Racer set the tone. Hot Shots Golf and Dynasty Warriors delivered portable action. The system was a multimedia powerhouse that could play movies and music. Despite stiff competition from the Nintendo DS, the PSP built a loyal following.
